System of Education in India

" I want to be a PILOT"," I WANT TO BE A FILM STAR", " I WANT TO BE A BUSINESSMAN" etc etc.. all these dreamy statements fascinate parents only till "10th" class or before that.. And after that herdism starts. His son is a Dr,my son will also be one. His daughter is an engineer,my daughter will also be one.But they forget that they are shattering the dreams of their children and making them join the field which they are not interested in or might not be interested in.This hirearchy continues and to be frank talent is moulded to other stream where it might not not be shown in full strength.I wish this system changes soon and parents realize the importance of their children's dreams.

  1. U forgot to mention abt the reverse hierarchy....i mean wat abt sons & daughters & their responsibilities towards their parents & their parents dreams....i mean, the second u born, ur parents start dreaming about what they want u to become & they literally work their ass off to raise u in such a way that u wont have any hurdles in ur life......every second you live they just dream abt u & their dream's strengthens over time to the level that it becomes their life's only lakshya (in short they are dedicatin their life so that u have a better life as per their understanding)...& after all this, if you want to go for something else & shatter their dreams which they have been building for over 20+ yrs then dont u think v have grown to be a lil selfish.....i mean, wat do v wanna do with this success(if v get it at all) which wont even make our parents happy...thoda zyada hi lamba & serious hogaya nahin??..dont take this seriously guys....its just a thought...which may change by morning only....lolz......

  3. Of course the responsibility will always be there, but it should not be show in terms of choosing a career..just choosing a career for their sake is not enough to make them happy..even if u chose your own career..and succeed in that..still it would make them happy am sure.. :)

  4. Well...rajat the situation is changing drastically, in the current scenario...i think 80% of kids dont know what they want to become..not kids may be..kids always want to become shaktimans or supermans or docs or watever..i am talking of students who are in 10th or +2..these guys donno what they want to do ..majority of them..may be because of the narrow outlook of theirs, this narrow outlook attributes partially to the narrow industry pattern that we see in our country.90% of chem,mechanical,bio-tech engineers end up working in a software comapny. This shows that the scope to pursue their dreams is very minute. There is so much of competetion nowadays that kids are being sent to IIT coaching at the age of 8..so..in India..its simple..if u want respect then u shd pursue engg or medicine in a reputed institute and fly overseas..being an expat is glorified in this country...ppl shud change..schools shud change..industry pattern shud change..MBA,MBBS or Engg are not the only lucrative courses..so..everything shud change..which i guess is not possible..!!

    1. That makes total sense and I totally agree that this cut throat competition is killing people, but still kids need to be given some kind of freedom in choosing their path

  5. To know what you want to become or what is your potential...you must know the opportunities available. I have utmost respect towards Indian education System.... Get your base stronger..once the mind gets matured enough to think what is right and what is wrong ... may be then you will realize whats your strength. These are good to debate.

Ultimately, money is driving the careers....which is not a good sign .. : -/

    1. Agreed, but I still believe if they are allowed to follow their passion, they might rise and fall but eventually they will become successful and happy in their lives.
